ManTech Lead System Administrator VMware in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Lead System Administrator VMware, to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO or Annapolis Junction, MD .

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides guidance to ensure all team requirements are successful and workload is efficiently balanced.

  • Act as a lead system administrator working with team members to ensure all requirements are delivered in an efficient, highly productive manner.

  • Has a strong understanding of troubleshooting and configuration of VMware servers to include protocols and switching, best-practice configurations, connectivity, and networking concepts.

  • Applies a specific knowledge of VMware systems administration concepts, practices and procedures and is required to be available for on-call mission support.

  • They are expected to work on complex assignments and perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with little to no direct supervision.

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work under aggressive deadlines.

  • Possess familiarity with varied concepts, standard best business practices, and procedures. The ideal candidate can plan, coordinate, and execute tasks based on experience, judgment, and independent research. Apply best practices where possible or engineer new best practices using innovative approaches as appropriate.

  • Analyze new and existing software; install, maintain, and customize vendor software.

  • Consult with internal and external users to identify and document user objectives.

  • Monitor system and application performance to detect errors; apply testing procedures/methodologies (e.g., diagnostic software) and provide interpretation of data.

  • Provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7-11+ years of VMware systems administration experience

  • Experience installing vCenter Server Appliance/Platform Services Controller (PSC) including installation, configuration, and updates.

  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning tools, problem determination and recovery, and security

  • Self-motivated leader with sound judgement and a bias towards action

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Well-rounded experience across multiple technology domains

  • Experience leading cross functional teams.

  • Experience with VMware performance tuning and capacity planning

  • Experience with high availability architectures and concepts

  • Experience with Virtual IOS concepts and applications

  • Experience with enterprise backup/restore architectures.

  • Experience with Windows Enterprise administration

Preferred Certifications:

  • VMWare Certified Associate (VCA)

  • VMWare Certified Professions (VPC)

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of this government contract an Active DOD Secret clearance is required. Additionally, the ability to obtain an agency suitability clearance is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain stationary up to 75% of the time in an office environment.

  • Must be able to traverse between one work location to another to accomplish work duties.

  • Must be able to operate IT equipment such as a computer, copier, fax machine, etc.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to exchange information accurately.

  • Must be able to read, review and effectively respond to electronic as well as verbal communications.

  • This position supports an IT operations environment. Candidates may need to support work on nights and weekends and may be included in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.

  • Currently, the contract work location requirement is to work in the office at the customer’s site once weekly at a minimum. This is subject to change.

The projected compensation range for this position is $97,900-$163,800. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, ManTech invests in it’s employees beyond just compensation.
